The “Cafecito con Ropes & Gray” series, launched by partners María González Calvet and Nick Berg, consist of casual, Chatham House Rule virtual roundtable discussions aiming to address anti-bribery and anti-corruption concerns for businesses operating in Latin America during the COVID-19 pandemic. The first session on April 15 examined historical corruption cases during prior humanitarian crises. The second session on April 30 examined compliance risks that the crisis has brought on companies operating in Latin America. The third session on May 28 examined sanctions and export considerations for suppliers of COVID-19 relief items to Latin American jurisdictions, and featured insights from partner Ama Adams, and in the fourth session on June 10 partner Ed McNicholas discussed data privacy concerns for Latin American businesses.
