On December 2, Ropes & Gray attorneys hosted part two of the “Name/Image/Likeness Primer for Colleges and Universities: A Two Part Series.”
The webinar featured insights from Ropes & Gray panelists Christopher Conniff, litigation and enforcement partner and chair of the sports industry group, Erica Han, IP transactions counsel, and Evan Gourvitz, IP litigation counsel. During this second session, Erica and Evan examined rights of publicity, terms of sponsorship agreements for athletes, social media influencers and reposting photographs, and third party involvement and Chris discussed NCAA rule changes in practice and compliance considerations for colleges and universities.
The discussion also provided coaches, in-house counsel, athletic directors, and marketing executives with the background and vocabulary they need to navigate the ongoing NCAA debates and prepare for operation in a world where student-athletes can seek and obtain their own sponsors.
