On January 28, antitrust partner Samer Musallam participated in an American Bar Association panel discussion analyzing Fintech enforcement lessons from 2020, and how those might be applied in the year ahead. Over the past year, the U.S. Department of Justice has increased scrutiny of mergers in financial services. The panelists discussed the role of Fintech innovation in recently challenged transactions, and explored what lies ahead for financial services transactions. Samer, who joined Ropes & Gray as a partner this month, is a veteran antitrust enforcer who led major merger investigations across a range of industries as a former Senior Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General of the Antitrust Division at DOJ.
