Ropes & Gray Honored for Commitment to Volunteering in Boston Public Schools

Ropes & Gray received the “Nicholas A. Lopardo Corporate Partner Award,” from Boston Partners in Education, a non-profit organization that develops volunteer programs to support the Boston public schools. The award recognizes Ropes & Gray’s commitment to educating students in the Boston public schools by encouraging its employees to volunteer as tutors and mentors.

Ropes & Gray employees volunteer with Boston Partners in Education’s Power Lunch program, which provides reading mentors for children in kindergarten through third grade. This year, 35 Ropes & Gray employees, including associates, paralegals and staff, are participating in the program and working with students to encourage an interest in reading and books. 

Silicon Valley-based private investment funds partner Raj Marphatia is a former board member of Boston Partners in Education and the current adviser to Ropes & Gray’s Power Lunch program volunteers. During the May 21 awards ceremony, Boston Partners in Education also honored Hannah with the “Isabel G. Besecker Award,” for her dedicated, long-term work with the Power Lunch program. The “Isabel G. Besecker Award,” award goes to a volunteer who has participated in one of Boston Partners in Education’s programs for five or more years and demonstrates a passionate support of public education. Furthermore, recipients of this award involves friends, family and the community in the cause of providing excellent education to all students.
