Any company offering goods and services to Europe, regardless of where the company is based, will be subject to new European Union regulations on privacy and data security. London-based privacy & data security partner Rohan Massey discussed the impact of new regulations—the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Directive on Security of Network and Information Systems (NIS)—at a series of conferences in Northern California. He spoke about “The EU GDPR and International Dataflows - What, When and Where Should You be Now?” at two Bay Area Association of Corporate Counsel Privacy, Data Security, and E-Commerce Committee Seminars, held in San Francisco and Palo Alto on Sept. 19 and 20. He also discussed “Cybersecurity Law (NIS) and the GDPR Together: A Perfect Regulatory Storm?” to over 100 privacy and cloud security professionals at the Privacy. Security. Risk 2016 conference in San Jose on Sept. 15.
Mr. Massey discusses reform of EU data protection rules, which will establish a more robust, harmonized data protection framework across Europe, in this Ropes & Gray trending video.
