Health care practice co-chair Deborah Gersh (Chicago) was quoted in a July 19 Crain’s Chicago Business article on the U.S. federal government’s effort to combat health care fraud.
Ms. Gersh notes the significance of the Chicago U.S. Attorney’s Office creating a new unit to prosecute health care fraud. She explains that more law firms may follow Ropes & Gray’s lead in building a combined health care and government enforcement practice.
Recently, the U.S. Department of Justice took enforcement action charging 412 people, including 115 medical professionals, with submitting fraudulent health care billings of $1.3 billion.
