Health care partner Deborah Kantar Gardner (Boston) was quoted in a Nov. 30 Bloomberg BNA Health Care Daily article examining improper Medicare payments.
Ms. Kantar Gardner explained that overpayment allegations often involve subjective clinical determinations. She notes that health care organizations have challenged Medicare overpayment extrapolations and that auditors also frequently misapply Medicare coverage, coding and documentation requirements, are often not aware of federal agency commentary to the rules, or have not been furnished the documentation necessary to support the claims.
