Health Care Co-Chairs Address Key Issues Facing Health Payers in 2021

In Financial Times Health Payer Specialist, health care partners and co-chairs Deborah Gersh (Chicago) and Tim McCrystal (Boston) examine top priorities for health care payers including telehealth. 

Tim notes that health plans will need to assess if telehealth will be reimbursed under a fee-for-service or a value-based pay-for-performance risk arrangement. This will be significant in rural and low-income urban regions where there are fewer health providers. 

Deborah explains that payors and providers will need to address the complexities of reimbursement for telehealth visits and in-person visits to address concerns of both payors and providers as to the value of those services and how reimbursement is determined.
