Ropes & Gray served as legal counsel in the formation of Kohlberg Investors IX (“Fund IX”). Kohlberg & Company (“Kohlberg”), a private equity firm specializing in middle market investing, announced the final closing of its ninth private equity fund with $3.4 billion in total commitments on Feb. 2.
Global investors who participated as limited partners in Kohlberg Investors IX include a diverse group of public pension funds, financial institutions, endowments, family offices, corporate pensions, sovereign wealth funds and funds of funds, with commitments coming from investors in the United States, Canada, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. The overwhelming majority of investors from Fund VIII increased their commitment for Fund IX.
The Ropes & Gray team was led by asset management partner and institutional investors team co-leader Marc Biamonte, and included tax partner Jay Milkes, asset management counsel Steve Zaorski, asset management associates April Herleikson and Dorota Maj, and tax associates Dan Zuckerman and Chris Shim.
“We are pleased to have again partnered with market leader Kohlberg on another successful fundraise” said Marc. Marc also led the Ropes & Gray team that served as legal counsel to Kohlberg on the formation of Kohlberg Investors VIII, which closed on Dec. 19, 2016 with $2.2 billion in total commitments.
