Republican lawmakers have initiated a series of hearings on ESG, highlighting legislation proposed thus far on changing rules about the proxy process and curbing the SEC.
Josh Lichtenstein, partner and head of the firm’s ERISA and fiduciary benefits practice, told The New York Times DealBook that, "this is all about signaling and politics."
He added, "red states may pick up lines of inquiry from Congress" for new investigations and enforcement actions.
