Private equity fundraising activity continues to increase, and Law360 recently reported on the top five largest PE funds to close in the first half of 2024.
Asset management partner Peter Laybourn shared insight in the article, noting the previous slowdown is nearing its end due to a confluence of impatience, capital overhang, and valuation adjustments. With this “needed momentum,” Peter anticipates "a continued uptick in fundraising activity across a range of strategies."
“There was a lot of long-term optimism among private equity clients that the funds raised over the recent slowdown were set up to do well,” Peter said.
