Ropes & Gray represented Backcountry, a leading online specialty retailer for outdoor recreation gear and apparel, in its sale to CSC Generation Enterprise, a multi-brand technology platform. This acquisition includes Backcountry brands MotoSport, Competitive Cyclist, and Steep and Cheap. The transaction was announced Sept. 9 in a press release. Terms were not disclosed.
Established in 1996, Backcountry sells nearly 800 esteemed brands, both online and across its nine U.S. brick-and-mortar locations, dedicated to skiing, snowboarding, biking, running, camping, hiking, climbing, paddling, fishing and other recreational pursuits.
The team included private equity partner Sandy Boer, mergers & acquisitions partner Chris Comeau, tax partners Tristan Evans-Wilent and Pam Glazier, finance partner Alex Zeltser, executive compensation & employee benefits partner Kyle Higley, and business restructuring partner Ryan Dahl.
