Ropes & Gray represented J-Pharma Co. Ltd. (J-Pharma), a Japanese bio-venture company, in an agreement with Georgetown University granting an exclusive worldwide license for the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the central nervous system (including multiple sclerosis). The transaction closed on June 3.
Full financial terms were not disclosed but under the agreement, J-Pharma will pay Georgetown University an upfront payment, milestone achievement payments based on progress in development and marketing, and royalties based on net sales.
Established in 2005, J-Pharma is a clinical stage bio-venture company with a special focus on SLC transporters, headquartered in Yokohama, Japan.
