In a video interview with Ignites, mergers & acquisitions partner Ariel Deckelbaum discussed the suitability of private investments for mutual fund wrappers. Ariel noted the increasing interest in diversified and alternative products, highlighting private equity, private credit, infrastructure, and real estate as areas gaining attention. He emphasized that any of these products are well-suited to the mutual fund platform.
When asked about the integration of private markets into traditional portfolios, Ariel acknowledged the challenges, particularly with private equity due to its long-dated, illiquid nature. He stressed the importance of having firms and investor bases willing to accommodate these differences. Despite the challenges, Ariel believes the retail interest in private markets will drive continued exploration in this area.
