In a National Law Journal article, antitrust partner Jackie Grise examined an antitrust lawsuit filed by the U.S. Department of Justice that seeks to block travel management company Amex GBT from acquiring a rival company, CWT Holdings.
Jackie notes that the incoming Trump administration is unlikely to immediately withdraw the case that was filed late in the Biden administration.
Jackie explains that if Gail Slater wins U.S. Senate confirmation to become the assistant attorney general of DOJ’s Antitrust Division, she is likely to embrace Trump’s antitrust agenda, which appears to lean towards more populist than typical Republican administrations, and may come out forcefully against ‘Big Tech’. “Amex GBT may be considered more of a larger Big Tech player,” said Jackie.
