On April 2, Ropes & Gray participated in a night of peer mentoring, connection and networking called “Sustainable Connections: Peer Mentoring Across Industries” at Luminary’s New York City headquarters. Luminary is a collaboration hub for women and women-identified who are passionate about professional development and expanding their networks.
The event brought together mid-level women with senior sponsorship from different companies across a variety of industries including consumer and packaged goods, finance, consulting, fashion/retail, technology and media. Companies represented included Unilever, Boston Consulting Group, Burns Group NYC, Ropes & Gray and Jones Lang LaSalle.
The evening began with a kick-off panel led by company senior executives, featuring partner and co-chair of Ropes & Gray’s Women’s Forum Lisa Bebchick, to discuss Luminary’s initiative, as well as the importance of focusing on diversity and women in business. The panel was followed by several breakout peer mentoring sessions to discuss executive presence, giving and receiving feedback, negotiation, managing up across difference and moving up without moving out.
