Ropes & Gray Hosts Third Annual PMC Charity Ride and Clambake for Boston’s Private Equity Community

The Boston private equity community gathered on Thursday, September 26 at Flywheel Sports, an indoor cycling center, for the Third Annual PMC Flywheel Challenge Charity Ride and Clambake, an athletic event and fundraiser sponsored by Ropes & Gray.

More than 35 cyclists, competing on teams representing Boston-based private equity firms, participated in the spin riding contest, with the winning team earning a contribution from Ropes & Gray toward their firm’s fundraising efforts on behalf of the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC), an annual charity ride that benefits the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Participating in the event were riders from Advent International, Audax Group, Berkshire Partners, BV Investment Partners, Cove Hill Partners, HarbourVest Partners and Thomas H. Lee Partners, along with a team from Ropes & Gray. The team from Audax pedaled to the top spot, earning a contribution of $10,000 from Ropes & Gray. Afterward, cyclists, colleagues and friends attended a clambake in the Prudential Center hosted by Woodman’s of Essex.

Members of the Ropes & Gray team that participated in this year’s challenge included private equity partners Christian Westra, Alfred Rose and David Blittner; private equity associates PJ Sullivan, Adam Leamon and Brandon Winer; and Ropes & Gray PMC riders and William Hurley.

Over August 3-4, a team of 25 Ropes & Gray attorneys and staff participated in the PMC, a 192-mile annual cycling ride from Stockbridge to Provincetown, Massachusetts, to raise money for life-saving cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber. Since Ropes & Gray began participating in the PMC in 2000, the firm has raised over $2.3 million for the PMC.
