Ropes & Gray advised New Mountain Capital and its portfolio company The Emmes Company (Emmes), a global, full-service Clinical Research Organization (CRO) dedicated to supporting the advancement of public health and biopharmaceutical innovation, in Emmes’ acquisition of Essex Management. Essex Management offers bioinformatics and health information technology (HIT) consulting services to government, private sector and academic organizations. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed, and the announcement was made on March 21 in a press release.
The investment in Essex Management is the sixth acquisition Emmes has made in just over two years, reflecting its strategy to grow both organically and through the addition of complementary and new services for its clients.
The Ropes & Gray team was led by private equity partner Todd B. Kornreich, and included private equity partner John Sorkin, executive compensation & benefits partner Danna Kivell, tax partner Alyssa Kollmeyer, labor and employment partner Richard Kidd, health care partners David Peloquin and Tim McCrystal, life sciences regulatory & compliance partner and chair Gregory Levine and private equity associate Ishan Jhingran.
