Douglas Hallward-Driemeier, chair of Ropes & Gray’s Appellate and Supreme Court practice, has been selected as a recipient of The Washington Business Journal’s inaugural Business of Pride Awards. The awards recognize Greater Washington companies and business leaders for outstanding practices in advancing LGBTQ leadership and equality. Mr. Hallward-Driemeier and all of the 2018 honorees are blazing the trail for diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
Perhaps best known as the attorney who argued before the Supreme Court in the landmark marriage equality case Obergefell v. Hodges, Mr. Hallward-Driemeier has undeniably raised the bar for the advancement of LGBTQ rights in the United States. Since that landmark decision, he and his team at Ropes & Gray have doubled down to protect – on a pro bono basis – the outcome in Obergefell, and also to advocate for LGBTQ equality in Washington and across the country.
Ropes & Gray congratulates Mr. Hallward-Driemeier and all of the members of the 2018 Business of Pride class. The honorees will be celebrated at a reception on June 7 in Washington, D.C. More information can be found here.
