Max Banister-Buffery joined Ropes & Gray in 2023 as an associate in the private equity transactions group in the London office.
Max’s experience includes acting for private equity investors and portfolio companies on M&A transactions, both domestic and cross-border, as well as advising on general corporate matters.
Prior to joining the firm, Max trained at another leading US law firm in London, where he gained experience advising a range of corporate clients on acquisitions, disposals and strategic partnerships.

- Advised the Virtusa Corporation, a global provider of digital strategy, digital engineering, and IT services, and a portfolio company of EQT, on its acquisitions of:
- ITMAGINATION Sp. z o.o., a premier technology consultancy headquartered in Warsaw, Poland.
- BRIGHT, one of the largest elite partners to ServiceNow & Splunk in EMEA.
- Advised Pharmathen, a leading European complex drug delivery and formulation developer, and a portfolio company of Partners Group, on the completion of its acquisition of CBL Patras, a leading vertically integrated and US-FDA approved peptide manufacturer and supplier in Europe. This deal was shortlisted for ‘Equity Deal of the Year’ at the IFLR Europe Awards 2024.
- Advised a consortium comprising Nature Infrastructure Capital (NIC) and Brookfield backed X-ELIO, who together have formed a strategic partnership with Å Energi Invest and other existing shareholders of ECO STOR, on the completion of a significant investment in ECO STOR, one of the leading utility-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) developers in Germany.
- Advised Arrival on the sale of certain assets to a US purchaser.
- Advised uMotif, a clinical research technology company, on its acquisition of ClinOne, a clinical research platform provider.
