Carol Slattery joined Ropes & Gray as an associate in 2023. Carol advises clients on all aspects of EU and Irish competition law, including foreign direct investment and EU foreign subsidies. 

Carol’s practice focuses on advising clients on antitrust investigations including cartel investigations. Before joining Ropes & Gray, Carol was an associate at another global law firm in Dublin, and prior to that was a legal advisor to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) in Ireland. While at the CCPC, Carol advised on a number of investigations with particular experience in advising on dawn raids. Carol was a barrister in Ireland from 2017 to 2024.

  • Advised AbbVie in its acquisition of Mitokinin, a discovery-stage biotechnology company developing a potentially first-in-class disease-modifying treatment for Parkinson’s Disease

  • Advised a retailer group in an acquisition including notificaiton of the transaction to the competition regulator*
  • Advised clients on the upcoming Irish foreign investment screening regime*
