Sheryl Yang is an associate in the alternative asset opportunities practice. She represents asset managers and institutional investors, including sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and secondary buyers, in connection with various transactional matters. She regularly advises clients in secondaries, co-investments, GP-led fund recapitalizations, joint ventures and direct investments. She also advises private funds and their sponsors on formation and ongoing operation of both open- and closed-end funds.
Sheryl maintains a pro bono practice as well, assisting with asylum and various immigration matters.
During law school, Sheryl served as an associate editor for the UCLA Law Review, a research assistant for Professor Richard Steinberg, and a writing advisor for the Legal Research and Writing curriculum. She also participated in the school’s Documentary Film Legal Clinic, where she provided pro bono legal services to independent artists, including drafting a wide variety of contracts as well as opinion letters on intellectual property matters.
