Billy Zhang

Billy Zhang is counsel in Ropes & Gray's asset management group. Billy represents investors, including sovereign wealth funds, pension plans, private institutional investors, universities and fund-of-funds in making investments in commingled investment funds, targeted co-investment structures, funds-of-one and separately managed accounts, GP-led and LP-led continuation vehicles, joint venture arrangements, and in the acquisition or sale of secondary interest in funds and other investment structures. Billy also advises private investment fund sponsors in their fundraising efforts, investor relations, and management of fund vehicles. Billy’s practice focuses on real estate, private equity, infrastructure, venture capital, and technology media and telecommunications.

Native in French and fluent in Mandarin, Billy has advised sponsors and investors across the globe, including in developing, emerging, and frontier markets. Prior to joining the firm, Billy earned his JD from Boston University and his LLM in International Law from UCLA.
