The much-anticipated publication of the SFDR 2.0 proposals has been pushed back to Q4 2025 according to the European Union’s 2025 Work Programme, which was released last week.
The market has been waiting patiently to see what lies in store for SFDR; it was expected there would be some clarity in Q2, however, a longer wait lies ahead in part due to the European Commission’s focus on the Omnibus Simplification Package, which aims to simplify various pieces of sustainability legislation and reduce the administrative burden for firms by at least 25%.
The Platform for Sustainable Finance’s proposals provided us with a glimpse of what the new regime may look like, but we will need to wait a while longer to see if any of their proposals are adopted by the European Commission.
