The incoming presidential administration has indicated an intent to curb regulatory and enforcement authority for public-facing agencies, such as the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), leading to questions about how cybersecurity governance will be impacted.
Commenting in Bloomberg Law on how diminished authority could affect future cybersecurity-related action by the agency, data, privacy & cybersecurity partner Ed McNicholas said, “we’re getting a lot of questions about that, a lot of questions about how aggressive the SEC will be in a Trump administration, because, obviously they’ve been jumping into cybersecurity in a very significant way.”
